Definition

Free name correction is the support/permission to amend part of a passenger’s surname or given name in cases where the name contains a spelling error, transposed information, a missing or extra middle name, or other unintentional errors.

General Principles

Only one correction is allowed.
Correction cases cannot be accumulated.
Corrections must be made before check-in counter closure.
Corrections are not applicable to tickets that have been partially used.

Cases Eligible for Correction

One incorrect character in the surname and/or one incorrect character in the remaining given name.

Example: Hoang NgocNam => Hoan NgocLam

Spelling correction

Example: Tran Van Chung => Tran Van Trung

Add an abbreviated part without changing the surname.

Example: Nguyen H Hong Quan => Nguyen Hoang Hong Quan

Add/correct title.

Example: Tran Van Thanh MR => Tran Van Thanh MRS

For purely Vietnamese names, the middle name "Thi" or "Van" is missing or extra.

Example: Nguyen Anh => Nguyen Thi Anh

For non-Vietnamese names, the first name or middle name is missing or extra; changes to the surname are not allowed.

Example: Mantrant Jean Marie => Mantrant Marie

Name correction recognized in writing by the local government.
